BlackRootsCultures is a digital humanities and research platform dedicated to honoring, preserving, and activating the richness of Black and Afro-diasporic knowledge systems through a decolonial, Afrocentric lens.

Rooted in African feminist traditions and influenced by Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra and predecessors' Thought — an intellectual orientation that centers indigenous African institutions, gendered knowledge, and collective memory — the project serves as both a scholarly hub and a community resource.

A Little About Me

Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra is  is an emerging seasoned  interdisciplinary speaker, writer, and researcher whose work spans the fields of African Studies, Gender Studies, Postcolonial Research, Multimedia Archival Research, Digital Humanities, Oral and Written Literacy, and Applied Cultural Inquiries. Her scholarship is grounded in Afrocentric methodologies, exploring the complexities of Black identity, heritage, traditions, culture, and knowledge systems across both historical and contemporary contexts.

With an academic foundation in French, Francophone, and African oral and written literatures, as well as language and cultural studies, Tiako Djomatchoua's research interests span art history, digital humanities, gender studies, applied cultural studies (including anthropology and ethnology), and museum studies. Her work focuses on the preservation of African knowledge systems, addressing the impact of colonial legacies, and reimagining Black futures through decolonial frameworks. Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra is particularly passionate about African feminist thought and the role of women's institutions and traditions in shaping communities — both within the African continent and across the diaspora.

Her work is shaped by critical decolonial epistemologies, digital humanities, and African knowledge systems rooted in source communities. She focuses on the preservation of both oral and material histories and the process of memory-making, with a particular emphasis on African women’s institutions. Through this lens, she ensures that the voices of marginalized communities are not only heard but also take center stage in the global discourse on heritage, politics, education, culture, and development.
