BlackRootsCultures Program for Young Black Female Minds (1st Cohort)

About

The goal of this Cultural Mentorship Program is to engage African youth, particularly girls and young women, in a transformative journey rooted in Black multimedia archival education.

Mission 1

The first mission is to create meaningful pathways for participants to explore and reconnect with their roots, reclaim erased histories, and affirm their identities through their cultural heritage, while developing the tools and confidence to strive for excellence in a global world.

Function 1

This is more than an educational initiative. It is a call to remember, to rise, and to lead. Your voice, vision, and story matter here.

Mission 2

Rooted in a mission to cultivate cultural pride, academic excellence, and visionary leadership, this program empowers participants to navigate a global world with confidence, clarity, and a deeper connection to their identity and heritage.

Function 2

Through access to curated digital and community-based archives, participants will explore the legacies of Black women, past and present, engaging in storytelling, research, and mentorship that bridges memory, history, and heritage.

Mission 3

Through access to digital, colonial, and community-based archives, oral histories, and heritage-based storytelling, the program empowers participants to find their roots, affirm their identities, and discover their unique place within the continuum of Black legacy.

Function 3

This journey is not only about learning from the past but also about shaping the future. It is about equipping a new generation of Black female leaders to lead with purpose, grounded in cultural wisdom and inspired by the resilience of those who came before them. By integrating affordable and accessible technologies, this program opens the door to meaningful exchange, cross-border collaboration, and network building across the continent and diaspora. Participants will develop leadership skills, rediscover their heritages, and contribute to a collective legacy of excellence, creativity, and transformation.

At its core, the program fosters meaningful exchange, deep connection, and the building of a pan-African and diasporic network grounded in cultural pride, leadership, and personal growth. These experiences are made accessible through the use of affordable, youth-friendly technologies, ensuring equitable participation regardless of background or location. The work is grounded in the reclamation of memory, hidden histories, and ancestral knowledge, bridging the past to the present and shaping the future.

Successful participants will receive official certificates of completion and be inducted into the program’s alum network, gaining continued access to mentorship, opportunities, and future initiatives. To ensure equitable participation, an internet data package will be provided to support access to digital content, virtual mentorship sessions, program evaluations, and international digital exchange activities. This support ensures that every selected participant, regardless of location or resources, can fully engage in this transformative experience.
