BlackRootsCultures Program for Young Black Female Minds (1st Cohort)

The first cohort of the BlackRootsCultures Program for Young Black Female Minds brings together a vibrant group of high-school girls across Africa for a unique learning and leadership journey rooted in cultural heritage, community engagement, and self-discovery. This pilot program empowers participants through structured milestones in cultural awareness, Black female identity, leadership development, academic excellence, community action, and global advocacy. Through storytelling, mentorship, archival research, and heritage-based projects, students will explore Black female legacies, connect classroom subjects with their cultural roots, and lead initiatives that celebrate their traditions. From journaling and oral histories to organizing events and digital advocacy, this first cohort will pave the way for future changemakers in Africa and beyond. Participants will receive mentorship from young scholars, access to digital and community-based archives, and opportunities to showcase their growth at the end-of-program awards ceremony. This is more than a program—it’s the beginning of a movement to uplift and equip a new generation of confident, culturally rooted, and visionary Black female leaders.
