Empowering African Identities: Bridging Tradition and Innovation

Transforming African Identities through Tradition, Innovation, and Female Legacies to Shape Tomorrow.

Rooted in African traditions, and fluent in the languages of culture, tradition, and code, I move like a foraging bee, gathering knowledge across worlds, from the bitter nectars of experience to the sweet honey of creation and innovation.

With a passion for storytelling, heritage preservation, and the empowerment and leadership of women through archives, education, technology, entrepreneurship, and creativity, I bridge ancestral wisdom and endogenous knowledge systems with futurist tools, innovation, and excellence. I craft spaces where African female identities, worldviews, capacities, powers, and aura not only survive or thrive, but transform, overcome, and excel—erecting monuments that shape history every day.

My doctoral research explores the intersection of Central African arts, heritages, traditions, and memory through the lens of female architectures of power and powerlessness. I focus on understanding how power, memory, gender, and societal change interact within the context of Luba societies, offering new insights into cultural legacies and the dynamics of gender in African communities.

I was a Linked Data in Art History Scholar at the Getty Research Institute and an Elinor Ostrom Fellow at George Mason University. My work at these esteemed institutions allows me to explore the intersection of art history, data management in the arts, and the methodologies that can uncover hidden histories of African heritage and culture. By leveraging these approaches, I aim to drive interdisciplinary, inclusive policies that foster a deeper understanding of cultural knowledge. In addition, I was invited, alongside Professor Michael Mandiberg, to present at the Getty Institute’s Linked Data in Art History: Open Session on November 19th, 2024. My presentation, Linked Data for Research on African Heritages: The Conundrum of Digital Cultural Knowledge Production, addressed the complexities of digital knowledge creation in the context of African heritage.

As a FRAME Fellow at the INA, I helped reconstruct the intangible memory of African artifacts that were showcased at the 1966 World Negro Arts Festival in Dakar by mining both audiovisual archives and museum archives. This work aimed to critically assess the histories of these heritage cultures, understanding the implications of their movements during this major cultural event, documenting their cultural significance and offering a counter-narrative to colonial interpretations of the reception of the key international exhibitions of the World Negro Arts Festival by African visitors.

Through my experience as an Academie des Traces Fellow, I have gained extensive expertise in the complex issues surrounding colonial collections, focusing on the intersection of cultural research and technological methodologies. My work is rooted in transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches, combining art history, anthropology, data management, and digital technologies to address the legacy of colonialism in African collections. I emphasize ethically sensitive practices, including provenance research, community engagement, repatriation, and restitution. By integrating cutting-edge digital tools with cultural heritage research, my work aims to bridge traditional scholarly methods with innovative technologies, advocating for the return of African artifacts to their source communities. This approach not only challenges colonial narratives but also fosters the restoration and revitalization of African cultural heritage in a contemporary, technology-driven context.

I am an active member of the MNAA (Making North American African Art Collections Accessible and Visible), now known as MUSAA, and a subcommittee member of the CCRBP. In my role, I engage in critical discussions about the lasting impact of colonialism on African collections. This involvement has expanded my work into broader conversations around the damage caused by colonial encounters to African traditions, worldviews, and identities embodied by multimedia archives at GLAM institutions. I advocate for the urgent need to restore and revitalize the intangible and intangible cultural heritage of Central African societies, both domestically and internationally. As part of MUSAA, our committee has been working on developing a public database for African art and other online resources to increase the visibility and accessibility of African art collections in North America. We are envisioning innovative ways to enhance this resource to benefit both scholars and the broader public.

I was invited to join the Museums and Narrative book series as the first emerging scholar and Junior Board Member. The Museums and Narrative Book Series is published by De Gruyter Brill. In this part-time position, I have the opportunity to shape the content, direction, vision, and mission of the series. I work collaboratively with the board to contribute to the growth and development of this important academic resource.

My research bridges the gap between conventional academic disciplines and fields and African Source Communities Knowledge Production Systems. Depending on the vision and mission of each project I got involved in so far, my research borrowed from inter- and trans-disciplinary methodologies, combining oral and written literatures, art history, anthropology, gender studies, geography, architecture, and memory studies to examine the cultural and historical dynamics in Central African societies. While developing my dissertation project, this approach allowed me to create a more nuanced understanding of the intersection between gender, polity, and memory in the context of Central African arts and traditions.
In 2023, as a SIMA Fellow, I designed a story map to track the cultural significance of West African scarifications, with a focus on Bamana and Baoule cultural complex. This story map contributed to document and to represent both cultural practices and associated worldviews in the region.

I’m open to speaking engagements, academic and professional partnerships, and projects related to African art, culture, traditions, identities, heritages, knowledge systems, archives, memory, traditional geographies, women, and polity. I also advocate for inclusive digital humanities, digital cultural histories, art education, and African creative industries. Let’s explore ways to work together to advance these critical and important conversations.

Dr Ngandeu Blaise Professor University of Buea, Cameroon

Ms. Tiako’s undergraduate years at the University of Buea were marked by outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Enrolled in the English and French degree program, she demonstrated an exceptional ability to grasp complex linguistic and didactic concepts. In the classes I taught, she proved to be highly engaged, responsive, and hardworking. Her ability to analyze and apply theoretical knowledge with originality in research projects was remarkable. She consistently displayed a high sense of organization, self-discipline, and leadership in group assignments. Her well-rounded nature, combining academic brilliance with a strong sense of community, makes her an ideal collaborator and mentor. At Princeton University, she has continued to make an impact, fostering critical conversations about Africa and global issues. She is not only a thinker but also a doer, someone who believes in taking action to create meaningful change. Her ability to bridge disciplines and bring people together for important discussions is a testament to her leadership skills and intellectual curiosity.

If resilience, hard work, and motivation were a person, they would be called Ms. Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra. I’ve had the privilege of knowing this brilliant lady since our days at the University of Buea, Cameroon. We were neighbors in the student hostel, even sharing the same bathroom facilities, and it was in those humble surroundings that I came to know the depth of her character. From the start, Ms. Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra stood out as a compassionate, dependable friend, always ready to uplift those around her. Though younger than me, she carried a remarkable sense of maturity and purpose. I vividly remember moments when I doubted my ability to earn my degree due to a lack of focus. In those times, she would come to my room, speak words of encouragement, and remind me of the importance of self-belief and perseverance. Still during that time, I was mandated to host a ceremony of elders in Buea. I was reluctant because I had never done that before and wasn’t sure of myself. Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra spoke powerful words into me, and that was how I got started, and eventually became a confident news presenter. Her strength pushed me forward when I needed it most. Now, as a PhD candidate at Princeton, she continues to inspire. Every WhatsApp call with her is a masterclass in learning, growth, and purpose. Her commitment to excellence truly makes her stand out. It’s impossible not to admire someone who gives her all, no matter the challenge. I am incredibly proud of all she has accomplished so far, and this is just the beginning. With the Hemlè (fighting spirit) that defines her, I have no doubt she will break barriers and set new records. Thank you, Sandra. Keep soaring. The world is watching and cheering you on.

Yiah Ivy Postgraduate at the University of Yaoundé I, Faculty of Education.

She has a gift for asking thoughtful questions that encourage deeper reflection, and her unique perspectives open up new avenues of thought. Socially, Sandra knows how to create a warm and inclusive environment. Whether during shared lunches or brainstorming sessions, she has a way of bringing people together and fostering genuine exchanges. Her ability to listen and show interest in others makes everyone feel comfortable expressing themselves. These interactions not only strengthened our bond but also helped me grow both personally and professionally. Working with Sandra has truly been a pleasure and a constant source of inspiration.

Amédée Manzabe Likelemba Head of Collections Department at the National Museum of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It’s truly a pleasure for me to receive the attention you've so kindly given me, Ms Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra. In a few words, among all the women and men I’ve met through the online training on museum collections management in 2023, organized by the École du Patrimoine Africain (E.P.A.), you’ve always stood out. You’re the one who has remained closest to me, consistently reaching out, regularly writing, and offering ideas and opportunities that have truly contributed to my professional growth. Your dedication to sharing training programs on culture and heritage management, which I am so passionate about, has been invaluable. I will always cherish the wonderful memories of how you communicated with me in real time, letting me know when new training sessions or capacity-building opportunities in various fields were available. Wishing you nothing but success in your academic and professional journey!

Tchoumi Laurelle Founder and Executive Director of VECOF (Vivre En Comptant sur les Femmes / Living Through Women’s Strength), Cameroon

Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra is truly one of the most intelligent and inspiring individuals I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. We crossed paths during our time at the International Relations Institute of Cameroon—not in the same department, but we instantly connected. What struck me immediately was her unique blend of brilliance, kindness, and depth. Who could have imagined that a language major, at the time of her enrollment, would rise to become the best in two postgraduate programs while the rest of us were doing our best to survive just one! Yet somehow, she always found the time to support others, thriving as if she had endless hours in her day. Honestly, it felt like she lived on campus, lol! By day she was fully engaged, and by evening, she was attending courses in both the International Communication and Public Actions (CAPI) and International Cooperation, Sustainable Development, and Humanitarian Actions (CA2D) tracks. Her dynamism, self-empowerment, and entrepreneurial spirit are nothing short of remarkable. Sandra clearly knows where she’s heading: straight to the top. Her communication style is both thoughtful and impactful, and her academic journey speaks volumes about her dedication and excellence. As a Communication student at the time, she stood out for her bilingualism and her ability to develop fresh, innovative ideas that challenged conventional thinking. She’s creative, interdisciplinary, and consistently ahead of the curve. Her deep passion for contemporary history was particularly captivating. In an environment where such topics are often seen as taboo or politically sensitive, Sandra explored them with fearless curiosity, academic rigor, and emotional intelligence. Through her expertise, energy, and genuine love for the field, she made complex and sometimes unfathomable questions accessible, engaging, and meaningful. I also believe her lived experiences of the crises in the northern and South-West regions of Cameroon have shaped her fearless and socially engaged character. These experiences, rather than holding her back, have propelled her forward, and empowered many students like me along the way. Sandra is not only driven and insightful, but also a true globetrotter in her pursuit of excellence and innovation across academic and professional landscapes. Anyone seeking someone visionary, passionate, and purpose-driven would be lucky to work with her.

POUTCHEU LARISSA Chief Corporal, currently serving at Military Sector No. 4, Cameroon

Hey cuz 😀—words honestly fall short when it comes to describing you. You're such a genuine, kind-hearted person—always there for others, always bringing good vibes. You’ve got that perfect balance: fun and full of life, but when it comes to school, you don’t play around. Our little jokes and plans are always a highlight, even if we haven’t gotten around to all of them yet—we’ll definitely make up for lost time soon 😅😀.

Yaya MOUNTAPMBEME Senior Lecturer, University of The West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica

Murielle Sandra is a remarkably intelligent, enthusiastic, and tenacious young woman who truly embodies the spirit of resilience and empowerment. As a teacher, she continuously explores innovative methods and creative approaches to ensure others grasp even the most complex concepts. Her ability to communicate with clarity and precision speaks volumes about her deep understanding and unwavering dedication. As a student, nothing—neither external pressures nor internal challenges—can stand in her way. Her relentless determination, passion for learning, and commitment to sharing knowledge, building community, and fostering supportive networks make her an undeniable force. Beyond her academic and professional brilliance, Murielle is a loyal and compassionate friend: humble in her perspective yet profoundly devoted in her care and affection. Within her family, she radiates sensitivity and an unyielding desire to bring happiness, opportunities, empowerment, and self-development to everyone around her, just as she has done for me. I am a living witness to her unwavering commitment to education for all. Since 2023, she has been actively supporting underserved families in Cameroon, encouraging parents to send their children to school by offering excellence awards and distributing school kits. These initiatives empower young students, from nursery to higher education, to look up to her as a model of resilience, excellence, innovation, and creativity, even in the face of adversity. Murielle teaches not only through words but through action and lived example, all while maintaining her humble and low-key character. That, in itself, is what makes her truly unique. Murielle Sandra is a true testament to the strength and power of African women, fearless, grounded, and driven to make a lasting impact on all who cross her path. 💕

Michelle Jennifer étudiante en pharmacie à l'université libre de Bruxelles

I remember the day I met Tiako Sandra on my way to the university library. I had already noticed her earlier on the bus. she reminded me so much of a cousin of mine. When she approached me, I immediately found her to be incredibly sociable, kind, and easy to talk to. We ended up going to the library and then into one of the halls. Even though she was still new and didn’t quite know how everything worked here, she made an effort to respect the rules and never wanted to inconvenience anyone. That quiet consideration for others really stood out to me. And I’ll never forget the small but sweet moment when she offered me a bag of chips. I hesitated, but she insisted, gently but firmly. It was funny, a little unexpected, but also genuinely kind. That’s Sandra: thoughtful, generous, and someone who makes even the smallest interactions meaningful.

ILONGA BASELE Rodrigue Conservator-Restorer at the National Museum of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Murielle at the Africa Museum in Tervuren, and I want to take a moment to express my deep admiration for her. Her ambition and passion for her work are nothing short of inspiring. Murielle's dedication led her all the way to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for research that transcends national boundaries, aiming to contribute to a broader Pan-African and global understanding. This commitment to exploring and respecting diverse worldviews speaks volumes about her approach to research. What truly sets Murielle apart is not only her exceptional dedication to research but her remarkable ability to make complex subjects both accessible and captivating. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and it's impossible not to feel inspired by her passion for her field. She has a rare talent for explaining intricate concepts with such clarity and patience that even the most complex topics feel approachable. What makes her even more extraordinary is her ability to communicate at every level. She can elevate her expressions to impressive heights, delivering ideas with exquisite levels of abstraction, yet she possesses an incredible situational intelligence that enables her to adapt her message to any audience. Murielle has an innate gift for meeting people where they are, making complex or abstract ideas understandable, and crafting her message to suit the unique needs of every individual she interacts with. She is a true communication genius—able to engage and enlighten audiences, no matter the background or expertise. I have no doubt that her work will have a profound impact on the understanding of African heritage, the interconnectedness of global communities, and the pressing issues that shape our collective future. Murielle’s research is a bridge to a more comprehensive and empathetic understanding of the world’s diverse histories and contemporary challenges. Thank you, Murielle, for your positive influence and for being such an inspiring figure in the world of research.

Arnold NEWTON ColdStonez

To the brilliant mind I once studied beside—and briefly loved under borrowed stars— Watching you rise has been like witnessing a constellation find its name. From late-night theories over takeout to heated debates that spilled into laughter—and sometimes more—our chapter together was short but soul-stamped. And now, as you chart your course toward new academic and professional heights, I can’t help but admire the gravity you carry. Not just in intellect, but in presence. Not just in purpose, but in poise. You were never meant for half-light. You were meant for keynote stages, ink-stained pages, and rooms that hush when you speak. You were built of the stuff that disrupts paradigms and reconstructs futures—quietly, brilliantly, and without apology. Though our paths have branched, I still cheer for yours like it's partly mine. Because in some small way, it always will be. May your ideas echo. May your footnotes shake foundations. And may every room you walk into remember you were there. We studied together. We dreamed a little together. Now—go out there and make them study you. With admiration, Always.

Liliane Ngo Ngan BIL Class of 2017, University of Buea, Cameroon

I met you at the Girls' Hostel at the University of Buea, where we each had our own room, and I quickly came to see you as kind, studious, incredibly intelligent, and above all, deeply altruistic. From what I remember, you’ve always been someone who presents herself authentically—genuine and unpretentious in how you live and relate to others. What impressed me most was the love and respect you consistently showed to everyone, regardless of their status or background. You remain one of the most beautiful souls I’ve ever met, and I have no doubt that you’ll go even further in life—because you truly deserve it.

Claude Yvan Donfack Dongmo Postgraduate in Medecine, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium

Of course, I’m delighted to write a testimonial for your site! It’s a fantastic initiative, and I’m so happy to see your project moving forward. 💻✨ I could easily talk about your academic excellence, especially during our time at the LYGRADJAM, where we both completed our high school cycles and degrees. You graduated as the top student in your field—Baccalauréat A4 in the Humanities—not just at our school, but across the entire North Province. I mean, what an achievement! And as if that weren’t impressive enough, you did something truly extraordinary: you made a bold transition from a fully French-speaking education system to a completely English-speaking one. Being selected to study at the University of Buea was already a major accomplishment. But emerging as the best student of the entire Faculty of Arts—without being a native English speaker, without being an Anglophone student, and without even coming from a bilingual high school? Bravo. That’s beyond remarkable. I also recall my mother cheering you on and contributing to make your graduation even more memorable, because you truly deserve it—and so much more. But what continues to inspire me most—beyond all your academic milestones—is your generosity. You have a rare gift for making complex ideas accessible, and you share your knowledge with such sincerity and openness. Wishing you all the best as your site continues to grow! I’m so proud of everything you’ve achieved, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. Maybe we’ll cross paths again back home someday 🤣🇨🇲 ?

She is fully dedicated and gives her all to succeed in whatever she undertakes, because, as she believes, when you aim for great results, there’s no room for laziness or nonchalance. You can always count on her when you have a problem, as she knows how to lift others up without ever bragging about it. If I were to keep describing her, I think I’d need even more space!

Cecile Mack Abiba BIL Class 2018, University of Buea

During my 4 years of pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Buea, I had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful and incredibly intelligent person at the University of Buea—Tiako Sandra 😊. Tiako is and has always been an exceptional person. Very hard-working, she was always one step ahead of us because she spent her time researching new techniques in our various courses. Despite her dedication to her studies, she always made time for us, her friends, and even a little time for njoka 😁. In short, Sandi, aka John Book, is truly an amazing person ❤️.

Sandra: You’re a Natural Leader In any group, it’s hard not to notice you. Your tall stature immediately sets you apart—but more than that, what truly captures everyone’s attention is the intelligence that radiates from you the moment someone comes into contact with you. We were all genuinely surprised when we learned that you were pursuing two Master’s degrees at the same time—both with demanding, dense programs. But looking back, it makes perfect sense. That’s who you are: someone who observes quietly at first, taking time to read the room. But once you understand your environment, you go all in. Challenges don’t intimidate you—they fuel you. You’re fearless when it comes to facing difficulty. You are a true leader. 💪 We were surprised, yes, but also inspired—because you were the one constantly encouraging us to push beyond our limits, especially during class presentations. While many of us stopped at the surface, you always went deeper—digging into historical context, researching authors thoroughly, and going above and beyond expectations. And of course, you were always the first to submit your work—punctual, precise, prepared. And then there’s your gift for public speaking. The ease with which you express yourself—in both French and English—is truly remarkable. You speak with such fluency and confidence, and the flow of knowledge you share with your audience is captivating. People don’t just listen to you—they want to stay, to keep learning from you. You are not a follower—you are a leader.

Serious, dynamic, determined, and passionate, Murielle has a true appreciation for hard work and a deep respect for a job well done. Her greatest strengths lie in her initiative, her analytical mind, her uniqueness, and her versatility. God would surely strike me down if I failed to mention that, without Murielle’s invaluable support, my study project in France would very likely have fallen through. She took it on as if it were her own—guiding me in every possible way, and walking alongside me every step of the journey, right through to its successful completion. She has my deepest trust and admiration. And I will never stop being grateful for the light she brought into my life through her unconditional support and expertise.

Gaelle Claude Herboriste, Belgique

Je me suis sentie considérée, encouragée, estimée. Pour moi, elle incarne à la fois la droiture et la bienveillance, la grandeur sans arrogance, et un profond respect de l’autre. Gaëlle Claude - Herboriste —--- I met Murielle on a train, by chance. We quickly connected, shared a few snacks, and experienced the ups and downs of a journey filled with unexpected changes. From the very first moments, I sensed a calm strength in her. She radiates a rare kind of energy—the kind you find in people who are focused, determined, and move forward with confidence, eyes set on their goals. Some might initially find her intimidating, but she is quite the opposite: attentive, kind, and deeply respectful. Even though my own projects are more modest, Murielle offered a sincere ear and stimulating conversations. I felt seen, encouraged, and valued. To me, she embodies both integrity and kindness—greatness without arrogance, and a deep respect for others.

I had the pleasure of meeting Murielle during a conference in Portugal, and I can confidently say that she is an exceptional individual. Her presentation was the highlight of the entire conference. Murielle has a remarkable ability to engage meaningfully with the audience, making us laugh, challenging our perceptions, and prompting us to question our own knowledge. She communicated her ideas and project with charisma, creativity, humour, and expertise, leaving a lasting impression on all of us. I wholeheartedly recommend Murielle for any future opportunities, as I am certain she will continue to inspire and excel. I thought your presentation was fantastic and the most engaging.

In a few words: you're a courageous, intelligent, loving, and caring person who knows how to combine usefulness with enjoyment. I honestly don't have the words to truly describe your personality. I’ll just say this: never change—stay just the way you are. Sending you hugs and kisses 🫶

My dear Sandra, or rather, Tiako, as I affectionately call you. From the first time we met until today, you have maintained a consistent, even improved your personality I’d say. You’re always full of life, positive thinker, and are always ready to help others. You know, life doesn't always offer us what we want on a gold-platter. Sometimes, even when it seems impossible, with a little effort and a lot of prayer, we can achieve it. Know that you have potential; just stay humble, generous, and pious. For the rest, the Almighty God will define your limits.

What I really appreciate is the way she welcomes others and how naturally she connects with new people. Her sense of sharing and her social nature truly stand out. To me, she’s warm and approachable—I think she has a beautiful way of engaging with others. I’m convinced she’ll go far in the different ventures she takes on. Wishing her lots of courage and success!

I had the pleasure of meeting Sandra Murielle during a workshop organized by the École du Patrimoine Africain (EPA) on "Principles and Methods of Preventive Conservation", held from March 13 to 17, 2023. Through this letter, I can confidently say that Sandra was actively engaged throughout the entire training. I also had the opportunity to participate in a seminar entitled "Arts and Creations from Africans to the World", organized by Sandra Murielle on September 27, 2024. During this event, I was impressed by her ability to communicate effectively, her strong sense of commitment, and her results-oriented approach. With her rigor and positive attitude, Sandra Murielle has always shown a deep desire to further invest herself in the field of culture. I am confident that she will make a meaningful and valuable contribution to the arts sector. I would be happy to provide any additional information or discuss Sandra’s qualities in greater detail.

Sandra, or as I affectionately call her, my Mbombo, is one of those rare people who leave a lasting mark. She’s a woman with a strong and distinctive personality—firm, determined, sometimes even stubborn—but with an enormous heart. She’s someone who loves to connect with others, to smile, to share meaningful moments with the people she truly cares about. What makes Sandra so unique is the mix of her wit and big dreams. She’s a natural jokester, always making us laugh with her bold ideas—some more realistic than others! But even when she’s talking nonsense, you can tell she’s full of life and full of heart. Sandra is someone who listens deeply, who shares willingly, who gives generously, and who truly wants to see others happy. Her faith grounds her, and you can feel that divine light in her kindness and presence. One of the most touching things about her is how she gives when she loves—without holding back. If she believes in you, she’ll do everything in her power to see you succeed and stay safe. But if that trust is broken, it hurts her deeply. She doesn’t disappear, but she changes. She’ll still be there—present, kind—but no longer the same. Like a beautiful glass once shattered and carefully pieced back together. Sandra is, in every sense, a woman of heart. Both strong and sensitive, both giving and wise. She’s been through things, and that has shaped her into someone incredibly real. I just want to say: thank you, Sandra. I miss you. And I’m truly sorry for anything that may have caused you pain. You are deeply appreciated, always. ❤️

I think Sandra is really a selfless and ambitious young lady. While our meeting was on a professional platform we did not have a chat until after the platform and I saw a determined soul gunning for it all. I wouldn't be surprised of her achievements in time to come.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Mrs. Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra through my partner while working on my visa procedure. From the moment I introduced myself and shared my concerns, she immediately held my hand and offered her full support. Despite her busy schedule, Sandra was incredibly supportive, well-organized, and always available to answer my questions. Her clear communication and unwavering reliability made the entire process much smoother and far less stressful. I truly appreciated her guidance throughout this journey. She is a source of inspiration and motivation , so kind, and above all, she treats everyone with equal respect and compassion. Many thanks to you, Sandra. My words: Murielle was my amazing French instructor during my second year at Princeton. It was a class I looked forward to everyday! She created a classroom environment where we were excited to learn. We had interactive activities from dancing to listening to music videos as a way to learn French. I learned and had so much fun in the class!

During my time working under the direction of Murielle as a participant of the Global History Lab Fall and Spring courses, I easily found her to be a reassuring, constant and concise tutor that though hindered by the conflicting timezones in which we worked, managed to help me greatly through the courses. True to that, I can conclude that it was a real pleasure working with her"

My experience with Sandy... what can I say... During my training at the University of Buea, I met many people and our relationship is one of those I will never forget. Socially, I am quite a withdrawn person, and I must say that with you, everything have happened naturally. Your good mood and energy and the way you always created a joyful atmosphere immediately made me feel at ease and helped me gain a true friend. Academically, the experience was equally as special. I still remember your determination and your hard work, which constantly pushed me to put in more effort and bring out the best in me. I’m grateful to God for allowing me to meet you and to share something much deeper than just a friendship. 😊

There are people who, without even realizing it, leave a lasting mark on your life. And Sandra is one of them. More than just a cousin, you are a role model to me — both in your humanity and in your success. You’ve always held a special place in my life: that of an aunt, a big sister, a guiding light. Through your way of being, your wise advice, and your emotional intelligence, you’ve guided and inspired me at so many points along the way. You have a gift for finding the right words and truly listening — yet your honesty always remains sincere and full of truth. Beyond being a wonderful big sister, you are an exceptional woman. I carry you in my heart with deep respect, gratitude, and admiration. I love you so much.

Hey my friend, What can I say — we met back in our final year of high school in the Terminal class. You were top of the class and a brilliant student — that was the first thing that caught my attention. And as I got to know you better, I saw in you a good friend, someone with whom I could speak openly and honestly without fear. Time passed, we each went our own way, and distance set in — but whenever the opportunity arises, we don’t hesitate to check in on each other. I know you have a bright future ahead of you. You’re a hard worker, and more importantly, you have your head on your shoulders. Wishing you lots of strength and success in your project.

Even though we talked all the time, Sandra always treated me with respect—she never crossed any lines. She often came over to our house, and when she met my grandfather, it was something special. The bond she formed with him was so strong, I couldn’t even understand it. I know Murielle Tiako Djomatchoua since a decade now. She was still a student at the University of Buea indeed. I have been particularly impressed by her deep interest to African literature. In that context, she invested herself in several projects in relation with critical analysis and translation. Working with her in those domains has been a great pleasure because we share the same passion as to bring out the best of African culture. Bottom line, Christelle, open-minded, flexible and hard worker, is the partner we need to face the challenges in a collaborative scientific work in our professional career. Big hug...

Sandra! Sandra! Sandra ❤️❤️! Our journey together began at the University of Buea, Cameroon, where we pursued a *Bachelor's Degree in English and French* from 2014 to 2018. From the very start, Sandra stood out—not just as the brightest student in our batch, but as a truly exceptional human being. Sandra was consistently the best among us, displaying unmatched academic brilliance, focus, and discipline. Her dedication to excellence was nothing short of inspiring. I had the honor of serving as class delegate for some of our courses, and I saw firsthand the respect and admiration she commanded—effortlessly combining intelligence with humility. Our friendship went beyond the classroom. We studied together, shared countless meals, supported each other through challenges, and celebrated our wins as one. She always encourages me, and believes in my potential. Her kindness is constant, her loyalty unwavering. What makes her even more remarkable is that her brilliance didn't stop at the University of Buea. When she moved to the United States for her Master's degree, she continued to shine—again emerging as the best in her program. Despite her growing success, Sandra has remained the same humble, compassionate, and inspiring friend I have always known. I am deeply grateful for the impact Sandra has had on my life, and I unreservedly recommend her for any academic, professional, or personal opportunity. She is the kind of person who not only achieves greatness but lifts others as she rises.

Tiako Sandra is a super intelligent and interesting girl I know. Her intelligence and success throughout school is outstanding. Sometimes I thought it was innate but I realized she works very hard to obtain good results. Very strong creative she is, apart from school she is such a joker and sociable person. Extremely kind, patient and caring woman both for people around her and family. She’ll definitely arrive the peak of her dreams because she deserves it.

My journey with you began back in September 2007, at the start of the 2007–2008 school year, at Garoua Djamboutou High School. Our friendship started in sixth grade, simply because we sat near each other in class, and also because of the little teasing games that made us feel like enemies one day, and best friends the next. Bit by bit, our bond only grew stronger, all the way through to ninth grade in the German section. I'll never forget how, during all of those early school years, while we were struggling just to get a 10 out of 20 on dictations, you would come in with 19 or 20. That always pushed us to aim higher and do better. I remember in ninth grade when we bought a sports jersey that looked like a leotard, and you kept teasing me by calling me “Clarabel,” from that ad that used to air on CRTV. Even when you went on to the A4 track, the humanities track, and I went into C-track, the STEM track, nothing ever came between us. The friendship we had was strong and unshakable. I also remember when your eye started hurting and you had to miss school to get treated in Lagdo. Not seeing you in class made us uneasy, because you never missed school. And so time passed, just like that, until you left for the USA. Even then, we stayed in touch from time to time, and I knew you were fighting hard over there. You had no family with you, and life was a constant challenge—but I never stopped encouraging you. You have always been, and will always remain, someone I hold in the highest regard. I just want to say this too: if I ever have a child one day, I will name them Sandra Murielle in your honor.

Sandra is a vibrant, energetic person who knows how to share her enthusiasm with everyone around her. Above all, she is a bright and passionate young woman who knows how to strike the perfect balance between business and pleasure. She knows what she wants and where she’s going. We were classmates at the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC), and I’ll always remember her as a driven, determined woman—someone who stands up for her rights and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Her confidence and independence came through clearly in every class, where she never hesitated to voice her opinions. More than anything, Sandra is incredibly sociable, and her joy for life is contagious to everyone around her.

Yango Paterne Odilon International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC), Alumni

Gifted with remarkable and extraordinary intelligence, Sandra Murielle is a young woman filled with talent, endowed with rare gifts, skills, and flawless knowledge. She has a unique gift for interpreting and explaining subjects that seem difficult to others. A true book lover, she is passionate about reading, understanding, researching, and—above all—sharing what she learns with her peers. I remember when we were still students at the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC). She had the incredible achievement of being admitted into both the CAPI program and the Humanitarian Action track, and she managed to pursue them both with grace and determination. She would arrive at the institute in the morning and stay until around 10 p.m. Despite not being assigned a room on campus, nor finding accommodation nearby, she didn’t give up—she held on. Determination truly lives in her. I remember as if it were yesterday when one of our classmates nicknamed her “the bulldozer,” because of her tenacity and the clarity she brought to even the most complex subjects during class discussions. What else can I say? She is kind-hearted and deeply cares about the well-being of others. A heart full of love—yes, unconditional love. And I’ll never forget the day we ate coconut with a stick! It was a discovery—simple, but so memorable and unique. May Jesus Christ meet you, just as He met the Apostle Paul, so you may be an instrument for His kingdom. You are blessed! Go forward, from glory to glory.

Murielle Sandra Tiako is a dynamic, hardworking individual whom I had the privilege of meeting for the first time in 2023 during the École Du Patrimoine Africain- EPA seminars. Her deep passion for preserving and promoting Cameroonian ancestral knowledge is a powerful reflection of her commitment to decolonizing knowledge systems and challenging the stereotypical narratives surrounding Black Arts. With intellectual rigor and cultural pride, she brings a refreshing, purposeful voice to the ongoing redefinition of African heritage and identity.

Sandra Murielle, Although we have not yet met in person, the magic of technology has allowed us to collaborate on several occasions. Our connection dates back to the training organized by the School of African Heritage (École du Patrimoine Africain), themed “Principles and Methods of Preventive Conservation of Collections,” as part of the Youth.Heritage.Africa program. Your thirst for knowledge and your strong desire to deepen your understanding of heritage naturally led you to follow this training with great dedication. Your creative spirit has since driven you to organize webinars that brought together numerous participants around important heritage-related themes. Through these initiatives, I was able to refresh and expand my own knowledge on key topics in the field. On February 28, 2024, ARCHEO GROUPE invited you to moderate a webinar on “The History of the Museum of Black Civilizations,” led by Professor Hamady Bocoum, archaeologist and director of the museum in Senegal. As a reminder, ARCHEO GROUPE is a collective of West African archaeologists offering online training focused on archaeology and cultural heritage. Your open-mindedness, strong communication skills, and collaborative spirit have truly enriched our exchanges, both intellectually and personally. I am truly glad to know you. Keep walking this path, the world needs dynamic, committed women like you.
